“হা সুখী মানুষ, শুধু জানলে না
অসুখ কত ভালো
কতো চিরহরিৎ বৃক্ষের মতো শ্যামল
কত পরোপকার
কত সুন্দর”
—এমন উচ্চারণ কেবল মাত্র একজন কবিই করতে পারেন, যিনি খুব অল্প বয়সে অসুখের যন্ত্রণায় বুঁদ হয়েছিলেন। কবির বন্ধু ভাষ্যে “একটুখানি আয়ুষ্মতী ঘুম চেয়েছিলেন”—আবুল হাসানের অকাল মৃত্যুর পূর্বে বিনিদ্র রাত্রিগুলো এভাবেই দীর্ঘ থেকে দীর্ঘতর হয়েছিল। তারপর সেই কালঘুম তাকে চিরতরে ঘুম পাড়িয়ে দিল, নিয়ে গেল লোকচক্ষুর আড়ালে—রয়ে গেল শুধু থোকা থোকা দুঃস্বপ্নের মতো অসামান্য টলটলে সব কবিতা এবং সতীর্থদের বেদনামাখানো স্মৃতি এবং একখানি সুরাইয়া খানম মিথ। এতটুকু অনেকেই জানেন। হয়তো আবুল হাসান নামের জন্মকথাও কারও কারও অজানা নয়। ঔৎসুক্যও কম নয় আরও গভীরে এবং আরও বিস্তারিত জানা। সেই ঔৎসুক্য একদিন উঁকি দিয়েছিল আরেক কবির মনে। তারপর আবুল হাসান নামের এক দুঃখদীর্ণ জীবনের আখ্যান রচিত হয় “ঝিনুক নীরবে সহো” শব্দবন্ধের আঙ্গিনায়।
মোশতাক আহমদ একজন কবি হয়ে খুঁজে ফিরেছেন তাঁর প্রিয় কবির জীবনগাথা। হয়তো এই একই জীবনালেখ্যের ভেতরে সঞ্চারিত হয়েছে লেখকের জীবনেরও অনেক গোপন দীর্ঘশ্বাস।

How The Chinese government could meet the basic needs of different classess and professions of people and manage their life styles, provide them with food, clothing, residences and medicine were aspects that he learnt by observing the way people were behaving, He did not merely take part in the conference; he looked at the country with deep interest. He observed the way farmers and laborers lived, their warkplaces, standards of living—everything. He observed little children and students as well. He noticed how from an early age they were imbued with patriotic values and a sense of responsibility and saw the staps being taken towards such an end. He not only traveled with an open mind but also took in what he saw with rapt attention. He noticed everything minutely.
